Everyone Is Looking for Him

And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed. And Simon and those who were with him searched for him, and they found him and said to him, “Everyone is looking for you.” And he said to them, “Let us go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also, for that is why I came out.” And he went throughout all Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and casting out demons.

Everyone is Looking For Him

Very early in the morning, Peter and the others go searching for him. He’s been praying. He won’t stop talking to his Father and your Father on your behalf. They are all looking for him, but his focus is their ears and their hearts. His focus is your ears and your hearts. “Let’s go on to the next towns, that I may preach there also.” He still goes. The preaching of his cross is the preaching of freedom and life. The world would try to silence this preaching, but it goes out. The Holy Spirit sees to it that it goes to the next towns and throughout all the world. This Word even comes to you. This is how your God delivers the cross to you. This is the mystery of preaching: God brings Jesus into your midst with his good grace and mercy. He forgives your sins and casts out demons. Thanks be to God.
