Christ for Us

When the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Christ for Us
See what superabundant riches Christian faith has! All these works and the suffering of Christ are given to [the Christian] to become his own, so that he may rely on them as if he had done them himself and they were his own. As was said, Christ did them not for Himself, but for us. He had no need of them, but amassed the treasure for us, so that we can cling to it, believe it, and possess it. Moreover, such faith brings with it the Holy Spirit. What more should God do? How could a heart refrain from being free, joyous, eager, and willing in God and Christ?
