My Salvation

Let me have silence, and I will speak, and let come on me what may. Why should I take my flesh in my teeth and put my life in my hand? Though he slay me, I will hope in him; yet I will argue my ways to his face. This will be my salvation, that the godless shall not come before him.
Job 13:13-16

My Salvation
Job calls for his friends to be quite and offer no more bad advice. He is tired of their false accusations and twisting of God’s truth.  In a bold move, bordering on self-righteousness, Job says he will argue his case before God.  In other words, Job will lean on and trust in the mercy and righteousness of God.  He proclaims, “This will be my salvation, that the godless shall not come before him.”  There are no coincidences in the Bible, God knew what He was preserving for His people in His Word. It is no small thing when we hear Job declare “this will be my salvation.”  The Hebrew word for salvation used here is the same rendering for the names of Joshua, as well as Jesus.  Though Job did not know that Jesus of Nazareth would be the incarnate Son of God, who would bring salvation for all mankind, he did know that God would be His Savior. We, who now have the full witness of Scripture, see clearly how Job’s witness to his salvation, is our same witness to our Savior.  Jesus is our salvation!
