Womb to Grave

Why did you bring me out from the womb? Would that I had died before any eye had seen me and were as though I had not been, carried from the womb to the grave.
Job 10:18-19

Womb to Grave
In Job’s agony he wishes once again that he had never been born.  So often in our own suffering and misery we, like Job, become myopic. We see only what is happening now. We too quickly discard all the many blessings we have enjoyed in the past.  As if they had never happened.  We can assume Job was not wishing to have never been born when he was content with his large estate and vast fortune and family.  Which he had enjoyed for many years. It is only now in his distress that the many blessings are forgotten.  This is what desperation looks like.  We cling to whatever we can get our hands on, and in Job’s case it seems that God has become his focus of blame.  This is why it is so important for us to fill as many memories as we can with all the many blessings our loving Father has showered upon us.  From our mother’s womb to the day the grave overtakes us, God is there with His blessings.  He gives us life and preserves it.  He gives us His Holy Spirit in our Baptism so that we might know Christ as our Savior.  He gives us forgiveness of sin and life eternal through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ.  And none of these blessings are ever taken away.  From womb to grave, God is in control and His blessings are new every day.
