Father, we live in a culture deceived by the cunning falsehoods of the devil, obsessed with death, and determined to pursue its pleasures no matter what the cost may be. Enable us, we pray, to discern the truth revealed in Your Word amid the Liar’s deceit. Enable us to stand steadfast as faithful witnesses to the Gospel of Life that our good confession in word and deed may validate the Gospel which we profess and reveal Jesus as Savior and Lord. Enable us to provide care and support to mothers who feel trapped in a crisis pregnancy, that their hope may be restored and they may be given the courage to choose life.
Father, give comfort and courage to mothers who have experienced a miscarriage, that they may trust in Your promise that all things will work together for good to them that love God. Your love is stronger than death. Your purpose will overcome even the darkest depths of despair. Wipe away the tears from their eyes and replace their sadness with rejoicing.
Father, restore our troubled families. Renew marriage as the lifelong commitment of a man and a woman to one another in Christ-like self-sacrificing love. Refresh our appreciation for the gift of procreation as the most wondrous expression of love that is blessed to participate in Your gift of life.
Father, the battle rages on. The strife is fierce and the warfare long. The countless hosts of evil seem invincible on every side. Give us the courage to stand fast and firm. Give us the endurance not to grow weary in this warfare. Lift our gaze beyond the field of battle to the victory celebration which has already begun in the halls of heaven. Our Christ is not dead! He is alive! May we be His champions for life here and now.
We pray in the most holy name of Jesus. Amen.

Pregnancy Center
Since the legalization of abortion in 1973, church and community groups have reached out to mothers in crisis pregnancy situations with hearts, hands and resources. Our Savior Lutheran Church supports the BLUE BLOSSOM Pregnancy Centers with The Houston Coalition For Life. This maternal assistance office offers the Curriculum of Life Program to new mothers, expectant mothers and young women who need help. They offer Life Classes, Pregnancy Tests, Ultrasounds, Confidential Counseling, and Referrals, ALL for FREE.
Blue Bus
OSL supports the Blue Buses operated by The Houston Coalition For Life. The Blue Bus parks at Planned Parenthood six days a week, and offers free ultrasounds to abortion-minded mothers. They have about a 92% success rate for helping the mother choose life for her baby! Our support comes in a variety of ways. Volunteers may stand and pray on the sidewalk next to a Planned Parenthood. We pray for the women in the crisis situation that brought them to this place, the babies dying here, and the workers who chose this vocation of death. We also support the buses financially during their Walk for Life campaigns and benefits.
Blanket Ministry
Many Lutheran ladies work diligently to provide baby blankets to the mothers choosing life for their babies after getting a free ultrasound at one of the Blue Buses. In 2023, these ladies finished 1,639 blankets, which were then given to the four Blue Buses and the HCFL office as a gift of love to the mothers. Since February 2011, our Baby Blanket Ministry has contributed over 13,000 blankets to HCFL!

We hope you will make plans to join all of us at Houston Coalition for Life for our Annual Run/Walk for Life which raises much needed funds that support the free services provided through our Blue Blossom Pregnancy Centers including Big Blue, Baby Blue, Little One, Little Two, and our main office.
Since the Dobbs decision overturned Roe in 2022 and Texas law made abortion illegal at every stage, visits to our Blue Blossom Pregnancy Centers have increased by 50% and visits to our Curriculum of Life class attendance has increased by 45%. In just the first half of this year alone, we had 2,873 visits, which is more than a half of all the visits we had last year.
All of HCL's pregnancy centers provide women in crisis pregnancies with FREE life-affirming services like pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, confidential counseling, classes, baby items, and referrals to community resources.
Because of the loving encouragement expecting moms receive, 93% of the women served by HCL continue their pregnancy and are given the support they need to care for and love their preborn babies.
We are delighted to announce the new location of the walk will begin in the parking lot of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Memorial Park. Registered runners and walkers will then be guided to the entrance of Memorial Park to complete their run/walk. Maps will be provided.
*September 14th is also the National Day of Remembrance for aborted children, and will be a special day for us to come together and stand for life.
Registration Will Open on August 1st!
