A Wild Donkey
If he passes through and imprisons and summons the court, who can turn him back? For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity, will he not consider it? But a stupid man will get understanding when a wild donkey’s colt is born a man!
Job 11:10-12

A Wild Donkey
Like a wild donkey we sinners buck and bray at everything. We endlessly look to others to place the blame for our shortcomings and failures. We pin our ears back as we bite at those closest to us. We have not self-control and are stubborn when it comes to sin. When confronted with the reality of who we are we lower our heads and refuse to be moved. And God see this behavior. As we read, “For he knows worthless men; when he sees iniquity.” Yet God does not abandon us to our beastly attitudes and desires. Instead, He tames and subdues those animal impulses through His Word. He softens our hearts with His Gospel and sooths our frightened minds. The Holy Spirit gives us faith to know and believe in Christ as our Savior so that when we do open our mouths it is not pointless braying but loving words to a world just as lost as we were. And our King, the King of kings, made His triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey, to show fulfill the prophecies foretold of Him, and to show a since of humility to us all. A humility which would culminate in His death on a Roman cross. All this was done so that wild donkeys like us could know the love of God and be brought back into a relationship with Him.
