Deep Darkness to Light

He pours contempt on princes and loosens the belt of the strong. He uncovers the deeps out of darkness and brings deep darkness to light. He makes nations great, and he destroys them; he enlarges nations, and leads them away. He takes away understanding from the chiefs of the people of the earth and makes them wander in a trackless waste. They grope in the dark without light, and he makes them stagger like a drunken man.
Job 12:21-25

Deep Darkness to Light
Job continues to speak to God’s greatness.  He is confident that God can and will bring to light the reason for all that has happened to him.  And he feels that when this happens, he will be vindicated.  And God will indeed vindicate the faithful.  We are told, “For the Lord will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants” (Psalm 135:14). We trust in the Lord and hold to His promises.  For when we don’t we become like those drunk men Job described staggering in the darkness.  We cannot find our way on our own.  We cannot vindicate ourselves. On our own we are in deep darkness, a darkness so impenetrable nothing in this world can overcome it.  Which is why we need a Savior.  This is why we need the light of Christ to scatter the darkness and enlighten our lives with the truth of His Gospel.  It is only then that we can see the truth of who we are in relationship to God. And as Christ overcomes the deep darkness of our unbelief with His light, the faith we have been given sets us free to walk in His ways to the glory of His name.
