Examples of Faith

Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the altar? You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by his works; and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness”—and he was called a friend of God. You see that a person is justified by works and not by faith alone. And in the same way was not also Rahab the prostitute justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way? For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, so also faith apart from works is dead.
James 2:20–26

Examples of Faith
Faith cannot be contained. It grows because God grants it. Remember how Jesus described that faith even the size of a mustard seed grows to be one of the largest trees in the garden where the birds come and build their nests? Your faith reaches out from the garden that is your heart and grows larger than its pot. It cannot be contained but shows forth Jesus’ work on the cross by the good works it accomplishes. Abraham was counted righteous, so were his sons, not because they didn’t sin, no. They were sinners like us. Instead, God counts them righteous because they had faith in Jesus Christ as their Savior. That faith justified them by working works of righteousness and obedience. The faith that Christians have, the faith you have, changes things for you. The relationship goes from a people who are not God’s people into God’s Holy People. We go from receiving no mercy to the people that are showered by mercy, love, and grace from Jesus’ cross. Faith cannot be contained. It must have Jesus and it must have his righteousness. It must do because it was authored by Jesus. He is the founder and perfector of your faith, and he delights in you.
