The Unique Day

On that day there shall be no light, cold, or frost. 7 And there shall be a unique day, which is known to the Lord, neither day nor night, but at evening time there shall be light. Zechariah 14:6-7

Unique Day
As the Lord Jesus hung upon the tree, a deep darkness fell over the whole world. The sun and the moon gave up their normal work and it seemed like the darkness had finally won. Zechariah tells us that on the day of the Lord there shall be no light, cold, or frost. It is like a false victory for the devil. There is no light, and the heat of hell dominated. Had death finally won? Had the kingdom of death and hell prevailed against Jesus? No. Wickedness, darkness, and the fires of hell all yielded to the unique day. That is the day, the hour, of Jesus victory. The light triumphed over the darkness and the darkness could not overcome it. The light, the Light of Christ, shines even without a sun or a moon or any stars. The Light of Christ is the light of our life. We have become Children of the Light. You remember, Jesus was talking about you when he said, “you are the light of the world.” That light is never hidden under a basket. Instead, it is set out for all to see and so that it may enable everyone to see. This is the light that comes into us and purifies us. The promise from our God is this: the Lamb in the midst of the throne will give light in the city of God. There shall be no need for sun or moon. Your unique day is the day you were baptized into this light. Children of the light are the children of God…forever.
