Slaves to Righteousness

What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means! Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness? But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness. I am speaking in human terms, because of your natural limitations. For just as you once presented your members as slaves to impurity and to lawlessness leading to more lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to sanctification.
Romans 6:15-19

Slaves to Righteousness
We have and claim an abundance of rights and freedoms as Americans. Freedom is what we as a nation hold dearest. And although many people consider freedom to be the ultimate human right, no one is truly free, spiritually free that is. We were slaves to sin and bound to death. There is nothing we can do to change that. Knowing this, Jesus came to serve us by giving His life on the cross and rising for us. So now thought faith we come to know that freedom, spiritual freedom is ours. Look to the cross and see where you were freed from sin. And now freed you can serve God and your neighbor. Only when we are “slaves” to God will we have freedom to be the people He created us to be. Let us give thanks and praise to our Savior for serving us. May He continue to lead us to serve Him and others.
