9 Jesus answered, “Are there not twelve hours in the day? If anyone walks in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. 10 But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.”

Light of the World
Jesus is the Light of the World. In the darkness we stumble. The devil loves the darkness. The world rejoices in the darkness. Our own nature likes to hide things in the darkness. We would excuse our sin and show it out the door so that no one would know. Jesus is the Light of the world. He is the Light that straightens our paths and supports us in our work. We see the cross before our eyes as we walk in his light. This is the Jesus that goes to the cross—he takes on the darkness of death so that your death is transformed into a gateway to light everlasting. Rejoice with the Church. The Light of the World has defeated the devil, the world, and the grave. You have the light of the world. Jesus walks with you with his good gifts and Spirit.
