Even Now, Lord

21 Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. 22 But even now I know that whatever you ask from God, God will give you.” 23 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” 24 Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.”
John 11:21-24

Even Now, Lord
Martha’s words to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died,” reveal both her faith and her limit. She trusts Jesus’ power but sees it bound by time and place. Yet her confession, “Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You,” shows the spark of hope the Spirit kindles in sorrow. Jesus meets her unbelief not with rebuke but with the promise of resurrection rooted in Himself. Our faith, too, falters under the weight of death’s reality. But Jesus leads us beyond wishful thinking to the sure hope of His cross and empty tomb. In Him, the power of life is not a future wish but a present gift. The One who died and rose again stands with us “even now,” turning every grave into a doorway through which His people will rise to everlasting life.
