Christ Holds Us Even in Our Denials

36 Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow afterward.” 37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” 38 Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times.

Christ Holds Us Even in Our Denials
Peter meant well. His zeal burned hot, his loyalty felt unshakable. He was ready to die for Jesus, or so he thought. But Jesus knew Peter better than Peter knew himself. Peter’s denial is not merely a failure of courage but a warning to all disciples who trust in their own strength. The moment we say, “I will never fall,” we are already stumbling. Jesus does not shame Peter. He foretells the denial not to condemn him, but to show that His love already goes beyond Peter’s weakness. The cross was not built for the strong, but for those who fall, again and again. Christ goes to Calvary knowing Peter’s failure, knowing ours, and still bearing our sin. Our confidence is not in the zeal of our promises, but in the certainty of His. He remains faithful. He restores the fallen. He forgives even the denier.
