The Way That Leads Through the Cross

5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
John 14:5-7

The Way That Leads Through the Cross
Thomas voices the question of every anxious heart: How can we know the way? Jesus answers not with directions, but with Himself. He is the Way, because He goes to the cross. Jesus is not merely showing a path; He is the path, the Truth who reveals the Father, and the Life who conquers death. Every attempt to find God apart from Christ leads only into darkness, because apart from the cross we cannot know the Father’s love. On Good Friday, the Way is opened. Nails fix the Truth in place. Life pours itself out that sinners may live. In Christ alone, crucified and risen, the Father is revealed, not as a distant judge, but as the One who loves and forgives. We know the way because Jesus has taken hold of us in Baptism and declared: I am enough. I am the Way, for you.
