I will show you; hear me, and what I have seen I will declare (what wise men have told, without hiding it from their fathers, to whom alone the land was given, and no stranger passed among them).

I Will Show You
There is nothing more dangerous than a self-assured fool. They are so convinced in their own abilities that nothing can sway them from their path, not even the truth. Eliphaz is so convinced that he is right that he will not even entertain a different notion. How many friendships, how many marriages, how many opportunities for healing have been destroyed because we take this same approach. We are right and I will show you. And if you can’t see that I am right than that is on you. God would not have us act in this way. We are not to “lean on our own understanding.” God wants us to turn to Him for the answers. He wants us to point people towards His Word of truth, not our opinions of falsehoods. This is why Christ came into this world, because we are unable to save ourselves. We are unable to save others. It is only through Christ that we have salvation. He shows us the way. He tells us what we are to do. He tells us the path we are to follow. “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6)
