God’s Portion
The possessions of his house will be carried away, dragged off in the day of God’s wrath. This is the wicked man’s portion from God, the heritage decreed for him by God.

God’s Portion
Zophar ends his speech to Job but reiterating that only the wicked suffer and that they suffer in this life. He says that all which the wicked possess will be taken and destroyed by God’s wrath. This is what waits for the wicked, this is why Job suffers as he does, according to Zophar. The devil has been telling this lie from the beginning. He wants our trust and reliance in God to crumble. He wants us to question God’s promise to us and His love for us. The devil whispers into our ears, “If God really loved you, this would not be happening to you. You must have done something so bad God cannot forgive you, this is why you suffer so.” With each lie the tempter tries to chip away at our faith and if we are not armored in God’s Word, he is all too often successful. Yet God’s Word combats and destroys the lies of the devil. He tells us that we are forgiven in Christ, that our sufferings are not meant as punishment but to draw us closer to Him. (Philippian 1:29) God gives us the strength to withstand the attacks of the devil, the world, and our own sinful flesh, by giving us His Son. So now we know what God’s true portion is for His children, “‘The Lord is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I will hope in him’” (Lamentations 3:24).
