The Feast of Booths

Then everyone who survives of all the nations that have come against Jerusalem shall go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the Feast of Booths. And if any of the families of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, there will be no rain on them. And if the family of Egypt does not go up and present themselves, then on them there shall be no rain; there shall be the plague with which the LORD afflicts the nations that do not go up to keep the Feast of Booths. This shall be the punishment to Egypt and the punishment to all the nations that do not go up to keep the Feast of Booths.
Zechariah 14:16–19

The Feast of Booths
The Feast of Booths was a time appointed by the Lord for His people to come together in remembrance of their deliverance out of the land of Egypt by God. They would camp in tents in the wilderness for seven days as they recalled their forefathers’ journey through the desert, guided by the Lord, day in and day out. Yet those who would ignore God’s command would suffer the consequences. Drought and plague would fall upon the people who turned from God. Today we are not required to observe these Old Testament laws because Christ has fulfilled them for us. But we are called to be faithful unto death to Christ Jesus and His Word. He calls us to be His brothers and sisters and partake in His inheritance from our Father. When we neglect this, when we turn from these gifts, spiritual drought and plague falls upon us. Our hearts harden the longer we ignore God and His Word. So, He invites us to repent and be forgiven. We turn to the cross and Christ crucified, know that there we have salvation. His blood has set us free. And in that we can celebrate not for just seven days but seventy times seven!
