Childlike Faith
Now they were bringing even infants to him that he might touch them. And when the disciples saw it, they rebuked them. But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.”
Luke 18:15–17

Childlike Faith
God calls all His children to Himself. Through the water and the Word, we are given eternal life. The Holy Spirit brings us faith to know and trust that Christ is our Lord and that He has redeemed us by His blood on the cross. This knowledge is understood only by those who have faith to understand. And age is not a determining factor in our receiving this saving faith. Jesus includes children in His kingdom and teaches that we must be like them to be part of His kingdom. No one has a better claim to the kingdom than a newly baptized baby, whom Jesus welcomes with loving arms. That is the truest picture of God’s grace. May we have that same childlike faith to receive God’s kingdom, just as the little ones welcome and trust their parents’ loving arms.
