The Plot to Kill Jesus
The Passover is the great deliverance of God's people from the slavery and bondage of the Egyptians. But, the whole of humanity was in bondage to a far deeper and more dastardly enemy: our sin. We deserve eternal death and damnation for our sin. However, Jesus is the Passover Lamb that frees us from the punishment we deserve. His blood shed on the cross covers us. Now when the Heavenly Father looks at us, he sees the righteousness of Jesus. Thanks be to God that like the Israelites were freed from the slavery of Egypt, so also we (and them) were freed from the greater bondage of sin, death, and the devil. Now you live because Jesus dies. You reign because Jesus rose. You are children of God because Jesus shed his blood.
