Filled with the Spirit
And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:18–21

Filled with the Spirit
The things of this world will entice and draw you in. They will fill you with the lies and the deceptions of this world. Jesus comes that you would be filled with the Spirit of God. He comes in the preaching of his Word and in the Sacraments. He binds you together in a community of believers around the means of grace. The Holy Spirit calls you by the Gospel. He sends pastors and preachers into your life. He sends you to a church. He sends his Holy Spirit into your ear and down into your heart that you would have the imperishable things. Then when you walk along the way, drive to work, eat with your family, etc., you can address one another with the Words of Christ, the songs of heaven, and give thanks to him for all things. We love because he first loved us and died on the cross for the forgiveness of your sins.
