Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.

Rooted in Christ
Foundations matter. Plants need good root systems to withstand the winds of this world. So also do you need a strong and everlasting foundation for the winds of sin and death that come upon us from the world. That's why Christ has placed you upon him. That is why you have been firmly rooted in Jesus in your Baptism. That is why he has sent his Holy Spirit to plant faith in your heart and make you his own. That is why he has given you a congregation to be a part of. We give thanks to God for his good gifts, his daily bread, for faith, and for Jesus' cross and resurrection.
