Lord, Save Us

23 And when he got into the boat, his disciples followed him. 24 And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being swamped by the waves; but he was asleep. 25 And they went and woke him, saying, “Save us, Lord; we are perishing.” 26 And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm. 27 And the men marveled, saying, “What sort of man is this, that even winds and sea obey him?”

Lord, Save Us
They knew the water, but this storm scared them. The rough times in life can get intense. They doubted and they cowered and they forgot that their God had promised to take care of their every need. We forget, too. We worry and fill our hearts with anxiety. We fear things that cannot harm us. We get caught in troubles when we love things we should not love. Even in the midst of all this, God still loves us. He keeps his promises. He will never leave you or forsake you. He is in the stern of your boat, in the middle of your life, watching, fighting, and protecting. He nourishes you and keeps you by his grace. He strengthens your faith in the forgiveness of sins. Your faith saves you. Your faith grabs ahold of Jesus and will not let him go. It grabs ahold of his blood shed for you. It acknowledges his presence to save you and it rejoices in his good work.
